Another possible solution for you now is to get a larger monitor, and with DEVONthink in full screen, Standard View, remove the un-needed and un-used Metadata columns, remove sidebar if you need to, expand the name field as long as possible.
Here is a screen shot on a 27-inch iMac of this immediate solution that is a possibility. In this screen shot there is lots of empty space in the Name field, but you can see I hope the possibilities:
