That won’t calculate and include the Bates number of the active page though.
I’m not sure how unusual my use case is (it would be familiar to anyone who references the “Administrative Records” that federal agencies must file when sued in U.S. federal court under the Administrative Procedure Act), but concerns documents that are Bates stamped and titled with the agency acronym prefix + the Bates number of each document’s first page.
So a consecutive series spanning the first 100 pages of the Administrative Record might look like:
FWS00001 (Bates numbers 1–38)
FWS00039 (Bates numbers 39–91)
FWS00092 (Bates numbers 92–100)
The correct citation format for the third page of the second document would be its Bates number — FWS00041. If there’s an easier way to obtain that info, I’m all ears
