Just an update. A week or so after things seemed OK. All of the OSx Finder Comments of interest were gone. I really didn’t know what was up so I contacted Apple, went through a lot of gyrations. We could not get things fixed. On shutdown/restart the comments I entered in Finder GetInfo would stay in place but then be gone after shutdown/restart. We went through adding comments in GetInfo, shutting down and then restart in Safe Mode. The Comments were there, therefore Apple’s conclusion, some software problem. But then on shutdown/reboot, the comments disappeared again. Ended up with their recommendation to re-install the OpSys. Which I did, but none of the OSx Finder comments were restored. But DT3 showed the FinderComments just fine. I ran mdls on the files and FinderComment showed as “”. This indicated to me that the script may have resulted in putting “” into the comments, but I don’t know. I’ve just stopped trying to run the script to try and put DT3 Finder Contents into OS Finder Comments. Resorting to copy and paste. But after the re-install of the OpSys I’m able to enter comments into GetInfo and they appear in DT3 Finder Comments. And I can enter DT3 Finder Comments which then appear in OS Finder Comment. And both methods are retaining the comments in OS and DT3 after several shutdown/restarts. I believe that if I’d run an OpSys re-install when my issues with the missing comments started, I’d have been OK.
