I agree that passive voice is not good, as it tends to obscure the acting agent. And also that the current wording is too complex. Especially as it uses “replicant” and “original item”, whereas elsewhere we’re told that a “replicant” doesn’t have an “original item” but they’re all one and the same. Not to mention the horrific adverb “proactively” (which, I humbly suggest, means nothing but “actively”. At least outside of marketing circles).
In place of “replicants”, I’d suggest using “reference” or “pointer to”. Anything but “replicant”, since that’s something else: I have a lot of tagged items whose number of replicants is 0 – how can that be if the “thing” in the tags group is a replicant?
